When I switch from analog TV I get more channels?

I'm sure most of you have been seeing ads telling you to change to digital television by 2009, and I do not have a digital converter box or cable television or satellite television. So I was thinking purchase a converter box to be on the safe side. and I walked with a digital converter box Can I get more channels? And only the cable channels?

Cable is completely independent of the conversion, and is not affected by it at all. If you already have cable, you have to do anything. If on the other hand, uses an antenna TV or antenna to watch TV, then you will be affected by conversion. You'll have to buy an external digital tuner to your existing set, or buy a new TV that has built-in digital tuner. One reason for the transition is to allow more channels, but whether or not suddenly get more channels come through the air in February 2009 will depend on television stations in your area. It will suddenly cable stations (such as discovery) of your antenna.
