I can not get my PS3 home screen to display on my RCA TV, so I have not done or done wrong?

I "m using the supplied AV cable to the console games, its connected to the inputs on the side of the TV (and even attempted entries into the back of the TV and that did not work). PS3 manual says the channel should be set to channel 2, which even tried to channel 3 and 4. Nothing worked. Television was mfr'd. in 2005, is not that old of a TV. AI also tried the TV / video and still got nothing. I know there is nothing wrong with the game console, was demonstrated in the store where you bought on a TV flat screen width. Any suggestions???

I'm not familiar with international standards. Do not tell me you so I'll assume you're in the U.S.. A / V inputs are not displayed in a "channel". There any way to select the input on your TV. Look for a button labeled VIDEO, or input. In some games can reach the A / V inputs to go to channel 2, then press the down button. "PS3 manual says that the channel must be set to channel 2" – This is what makes me wonder if you're in the U.S.. PS3 U.S. market no RF output. The manual does not say that.
